“If I Get My Spine Adjusted For The First Time, Will It Always Have To Be Adjusted?”

“If I Get My Spine Adjusted For The First Time, Will It Always Have To Be Adjusted?”

That’s one of the most common questions we’re asked. But before we get to the answer, let’s have a quick discussion.

Our line of work is about so much more than “adjustments.” It’s about getting your body moving better, so you can pursue a healthier lifestyle.

Now, notice I said, “healthier.” Because there is no such thing as an end goal of being “healthy.” Health is a dynamic state with multiple facets–it’s always changing as long as you’re alive. And it’s the same with your spinal, muscle and joint mechanics. They’re always changing depending on the quality of food you eat, and the degree of exercise or strain you put on your body.

Let’s say, for example, you drink Red Bull and skip meals, or take that kettlebell class for the first time after you’ve logged 60 minutes on the elliptical. Maybe you sit at the computer for 8 hours a day, or overdo it on yard work by mulching 10 yards in one day. All of these things put strain on your body… and it can only take so much before it starts talking to you. (Or screaming at you!)

So, getting back to the question at hand. Once we give you an adjustment, we don’t put some kind of spell on you. You won’t forever have to be adjusted. You don’t have to do anything. Taking care of your body is a choice–your choice.

But think about it this way. Tune-ups, oil changes and tire rotations are a regular part of your vehicle maintenance. Shouldn’t your body (something way more important to you than your vehicle) have a maintenance plan, too? Having your spine, joints and muscles worked on regularly helps to prevent major breakdown in overall function so you can continue with your daily activities, as well as other things you love to do.

So, here’s my question for you: What’s your maintenance plan?

We’ll talk more. But in the meantime, move well!
